Is it also possible to get the BSSIDs of all available access points instead of only the one I'm currently connected to? I'm a bit confused. Featured on Meta. Community and Moderator guidelines for escalating issues via new response…. Feedback on Q2 Community Roadmap.Andrew, how does overhead correspond to utilization? Overhead is essentially "used airtime" which does also represent channel utilization. Cheers, Andrew. Dear Andrew, Thanks for the great info. I've seen some of the SI or service providers 'wholesale' their wifi infrastructure by 'renting out' the SSIDs at public places mostly. Will such deployment degrade the performance?
Do you want to add a few more variables to this one? It would be useful to add the number of clients per AP, of roaming clients, of retries to beacons. These add to the overhead used in high density and take away from the airtime.
Controller Based WLANs
Let me know if you want to discuss formulas. Once I start adding in other variables it would snowball since there are so many that come into play. KISS principle. Cheers and thanks for reading! Hi Andrew, I see this is no longer being shared.
I just came across your site for the first time the other day and would love to review this SSID Overhead sheet. Can you possibly share this again? Hi Dave, The download is still live and working for me. Do you have access to Dropbox? You stated that all access points incl. What about SSIDs of other networks? How do they consume airtime? I'm trying to wrap my head around how idle 3rd party devices can add so much overhead.
Perhaps I don't understand the word "overhead". An idle access point still sends beacon frames to advertise the network. This occurs whether the SSID is 'hidden' or not that just strips the name out of the beacon, but it is still sent. The beacon is sent at the minimum Basic data rate which plays a large factor into how much overhead is consumed percentage of airtime that is 'busy'.Two ethernet ports gives double the amount of available MAC addresses than one port.
If you have configured, then either look physically on the AP or we can take it from "show ap database long" CLI command, as shown below: Lets take one of the wired MAC address shown in the above image.
Refer below screenshot to confirm: 2. Drop the first character from the UAA, i. Convert into binary. Looks like the wired ports are a different chip maker than the radios. Welcome Back!

I know that exists display filters to do that but i need to filter them ahead like with capture filters. You could use an index from the start of the wlan packet. By using brackets, you should be able to reference the proper positions in the packet. You have to convert the first 4 octets into a int32 and the last 2 into an int16 and use 2 clauses, as BPF cannot express a 6 byte number, but I've used it and it works fine.
This can also be adapted to other uses as well you just need the offset. It works surprisingly well considering all the user-space processing.
But even a low-volume network is fairly noisy. Grabbing all the frames for the five visible but small! And I hope to extend it to drop a good amount of the "noisy" frames - most of the control and management frames can be filtered. Anyway, hope I provided some breadcrumbs to the solution. It may just be an airodump user-space solution is the easiest.

A longer rundown of the situation might be Okay, there's about a dozen AP's near enough to me that I can walk to each AP owner's mailbox and see the street address. And, I almost know the majority of people who live around me. So I know that the program works, but it was also cheating, because I rigged the wordlist with the already known password.
However, I'm not aware of Aircrack-ng supporting rule based attacks, so I figured I'd get a bit familiar with Hashcat3. However, I ran an error with Hashcat3.
So, I am at a standstill on that part of things, until I get a decent grasp of what I need to do to get Hashcat to run on my setup without throwing an error.
In the mean-time, I thought, without twiddling my thumbs and waiting, I thought to try my hand at making some more targeted wordlists with Crunch. After all, I still have a lot to learn about Crunch's syntax, the more commonly used password structures, etc. So, I have the bright idea yeah, yet to be determined that I'll just dig around and associate a street address with each network name, and then I can find out some more generic info names, genders, ages, DOBs, etc.
If nothing else, I'd learn alot more about using Crunch.Как вычислить местоположение любого человека в интернете
After that, Google Maps will fill in the blanks There might even be some online resource that does this sort of thing. If there is then I just didn't see it. I was thinking that there'd probably be something online similar to whois or reverse lookup, but I didn't see anything like that for associating BSSIDs with locations.
I do remember glancing at something about finding an AP's physical location but it was when I had just installed Kali and didn't concern me any at the time. How does one usually go about it? I've mapped over a quarter million wireless networks wardriving with Wigle Wifi. The more observations you have of the network, the more accurate the GPS location of the transmitter will be.

Take a look at wigle. I wrote a tutorial on this that should be released soon. Wow, that is pretty awesome. I didn't get a chance to browse the forums yet but I hope to get enough free time later on tonight to do so.This is an advanced converter where you can convert between hex, binary, decimal, octal and ascii without even changing form or page.
You can specify your own delimiters like colon or dashes for parsing more complex structures. You'll also have a history functionality so you can go back in case you made a mistake or want to compare the original and the new result. Read on for more information. This converter makes it easy for you to convert between different types practically instantly.
Simply fill out the textbox below and then choose the type you want to convert to. The input type determines how the conversion is performed, so make sure it's correct. Fortunately the type automatically changes when you convert so you don't have to worry about it too much. You can change it manually whenever you wish. If the auto delimiter option is checked, the delimiters will be automatically set and changed for you.
You don't need to manually change the delimiters as different conversions may have different output, so your conversion experience will be smooth and fast. If you wish to change the delimiters manually for a more customized conversion, you can do so by turning off the auto delimiter option and setting the delimiters of your choice.
The split delimiter is the delimiter that is used to seperate the individual parts of the text. Perhaps you have a MAC address that uses the colon delimiter ie. The glue delimiter is like a reverse version of the split delimiter, it is used when you're putting togheter the individual parts after a conversion. Let's say you would want to convert a sequence of hexadecimals which are delimited by a space into a normal word without the spaces. To achieve this you set the split delimiter to a single space and the glue delimiter to an empty string.
Finally I'd like to give credits to the guys over at phpjs. Thanks to them I saved a lot of headscratching. Home WP Blog Blog no longer maintained.
